the weather. >> it should be a good looking day and a cool day. today, only in the low 60s. let's get to the satellite picture and show you we are looking nice and quiet out there at the moment. the satellite picture showing conditions are fairly quiet across the region. there should be some gradual improvement in our forecast over the next couple of days. i'll have details on that in just a minute. i'll toss it back to you. >> thank you. checking our top stories, a late night rescue for a construction worker trapped in the rubble of the parking garage collapse in florida. rescuers freed the critically injured worker 13 hours after the collapse of the garage. one worker is still missing

cyclist lance armstrong is implicated in what is being called the most sophisticated doping program in recent sports history. the u.s. antidoping agency released a report accusing the cycling champion of using performance-enhancing drug during his career. armstrong's lawyer says the usada ignored hundreds of doping tests the cyclist passed during his career. the supreme chiewrt has heard a case that could have major implication for every college and university in america. it is about whether race can be a factor in determining whether a student is admitted or not. the case was brought by a woman who was denied entrance to the university of texas at austin when she was a teen. abigail fisher showed up at the

temperatures in the upper 50s to about 60. should be plenty of sunshine. we don't have much happening. high pressure out to the west will really build in and unlike yesterday when we woke up with the clouds and fog, i think today will start sunny and bright. it should be a mostly sunny day today. as we get into tomorrow and the weekend, we should get a warm- up around here particularly by sunday with temperatures expected to be back in the 70s. 62 today, lots of sunshine. cool for this time of year, wind north and west at about five to 10. much of the area in the upper 50s later this afternoon. it will be fall-like. it should be after all. it's october. here is your accu-weather seven- day forecast. thursday, friday, saturday, sunday look great with temperatures warming into the low 70s by sunday afternoon. we've got a redskin game. it will be nice for that. let's look at weather. >> on the roads this morning, so far, so good. overnight construction in the process of clearing from the

beltway inner loop to head westbound on 66. we also had the overnight roadwork that was tying up some lanes on 66 as you guys continue inbound. this is the service road here from nutley street. you will find the lanes there are open. no problems reported if you are traveling north on 95 and 395. coming across the american legion bridge, still an easy drive between 270 and tysons corner. no problems to report on the inner loop. top side of the beltway at speed between college park and bethesda. no problems to report on 95 and 295 leaving for the beltway. that's a check of your fox 5 on-time traffic. metro is showing off a sample of its newest railcars. they are scheduled to go into service sometime within the next 18 months. fox 5's john henrehan goes on board to give us a look. ive us . >> reporter: at roughly $2 million each, metro's 7,000 series railcars are designed to be far safer than the oldest

cars in the system. >> this car is made out of stainless steel, not aluminum, much more rugged material to work with. >> reporter: inside, the new cars will be equipped with multiple cameras so the operator can keep an eye on passengers inform fought thank you, these pictures might be transmitted real time to metro police headquarters. there will be multiple electronic sign boards inside the new cars but customer focus groups were firm on one thing. >> they are silent. so we listen to customers who said they did not want audio. >> reporter: with no armrest, the seats feel a little roomier and the aisles are a little wider. there is space underneath every seat for a backpack or even a suitcase. carpeting is history. it has been replaced with what is called non-flip resilient flooring. there are three sets of doors on each side but the new cars have moved the outer doors 36 inches closer to the center. managers think this is going to improve traffic flow. here is why. under the old configuration,
